RECORD BREAKING: Virgin Global Flyer
Our brief was to turn into reality Chairman of the Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson’s vision of Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer’s Mission Control Centre. We needed to excite and engage the world’s media in order to generate maximum exposure – working with a rolling itinerary that was wholly dependent on the weather.

The Watermark team worked closely with NASA to transform Salina’s K-State University Assembly Hall and create a fully operational Mission Control.

A 7 day, rolling timescale itinerary was scheduled for 200 guests. With careful planning we were able to implement the itinerary within just 3 days whilst ensuring guests experienced Virgin touches throughout their stay. Including:
  • 24/7 dining at Mission Control and at a specially created Virgin Clubhouse within the guests’ hotel.
  • Nightly entertainment for guests including state receptions and sightseeing excursions.
  • A landing celebration including a 10,000+ welcoming crowd.
We were delighted in 2005 to win a Gold Award at the prestigious Haymarket Events Award Ceremony for our event management and production supporting the Global Challenger.
